Marin County Fair Opens

The annual event features a solar powered carousel and stage, 28 carnival rides, jugglers and fireworks at Sunset.

The Marin County Fair opens Wednesday morning at the Marin Center Fairgrounds in San Rafael.

The fair is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. through Sunday. Musical entertainment includes Kansas, the Marshall Tucker Band, Pablo Cruise, Queen Nation, Judy Collins, Aaron Neville, Tribal Seeds and La Misa Negra.

Attractions include the Peking Acrobats, the Clover Stornetta Family Farm petting zoo, a solar powered carousel and stage, 28 carnival rides, jugglers, a STEAM carnival high-tech interactive entertainment area and fireworks at sunset.

The Sonoma-Marin Area Rail Transit authority will have two train cars open for public inspection on Civic Center Drive at McInnis Parkway.

SMART just received an $11 million grant to buy three more rail cars for the San Rafael-to-Santa Rosa line planned to start up in late 2016.

Tickets to the fair are $20 for adults and $15 for seniors and children ages 4-12, with discounts if the tickets are purchased online and five-day passes also available.
