SAN RAFAEL, CA — A new online map will help showcase Marin County's bountiful public artworks, collecting the locations of dozens of murals, sculptures, mosaics, fountains, painted utility boxes and other art installations.

The project launched Tuesday and is the result of a collaboration between the Department of Cultural Services and Marin County Information. Now, residents and visitors can search cities and towns to track down more than 150 pieces of public art across Marin County, from the seal in Sausalito to the Buddha Barn at Point Reyes Station.

"Public art is a powerful catalyst for all that we cherish and aspire to in Marin," said Gabriella Calicchio, the Director of Cultural Services. "It can enhance and express a unique communal [identity], deepen our attachment to place, promote civic dialogue and cross-cultural understanding, and enliven our public spaces."
