Marin Senior Rescued After 32 Hours Missing

A woman who was missing for more than a day prompted a large-scale search and rescue operation Sunday afternoon in Marin County.

MARIN COUNTY, CA — Marin search and rescue teams found a missing woman and brought her to safety 32 hours after she was last seen, according to officials.

The Central Marin Police Department called in search and rescue after officers said the family of a 78-year-old woman with likely dementia reported her missing Sunday afternoon. Officials said the woman was last seen at 10 a.m. Saturday, but her family was unaware they were not required to wait 24 hours to report a missing person.

Dozens of search and rescue members joined Central Marin officers, sheriff's deputies, fire crews, CERT volunteers, water rescue teams, Fire Boat Tiburon, and the CHP's air operations division to cover a large area surrounding the woman's home Sunday afternoon.
