Memorial Day Ceremony To Honor Veterans In Marin County

Local veterans will lead a remembrance ceremony on Memorial Day in San Rafael.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Marin County neighbors are invited to join local veterans organizations to pay respects to fallen military members during an outdoor Memorial Day ceremony later this month in San Rafael.

According to officials, at least 11,000 veterans live in Marin County, including those who served in World War II and those still on active duty.

The Memorial Day event, organized by the Marin County United Veterans Council, will take place on May 29 outside the Marin County Veterans' Memorial Auditorium, in front of the statues and memorials at 10 Avenue of the Flags.

Army veteran Glenn Ross will lead the annual remembrance ceremony, which is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. with patriotic songs, followed by a color guard presentation, the laying of ceremonial wreaths, and "Taps."

The ceremony will also take a moment to honor the memory of Ray Mullin, the council's former president, who died in March. Mullin served in the Navy during Vietnam and lived in Marin County for most of his life.

All are invited to attend, with seating available on a first-come-first-served basis. Coffee and refreshments will be available after the ceremony concludes.
