San Rafael Teachers Rally For Better Wages

The San Rafael Teachers Association rallied at four San Rafael City District schools Wednesday.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — San Rafael public school teachers are demanding higher wages, and they're taking their case to the public.

The San Rafael Teachers Association rallied at four San Rafael City District schools Wednesday (Venetia Valley, Glenwood and Sun Valley elementary schools and Davidson Middle School).

The SRTA posted video of the rally on its Facebook page.

“Fair pay means educators stay,” read one sign.

Another sign read: “Our students deserve the best! FAIR PAY = TEACHERS STAY”

Wednesday’s rally was the first in a series that will run through Saturday ahead of Monday’s state mediation session with district negotiators, SRTA Vice President Molly O’Donoghue told The Marin Independent Journal.

“We really believe the community needs to know that the students at San Rafael City Schools elementary school district deserve to have teachers that are involved in the San Rafael community,” O’Donoghue told the news outlet.

“We believe we need to attract and retain the best educators here in SRCS elementary school district.”
