Sophia Everett Powers Torrid San Rafael Softball In Sixth Straight Win

The freshman hitting sensation is batting .508 (31 for 61) with 17 extra-base hits including four home runs.

SAN RAFAEL, CA — Freshman standout Sophia Everett homered, sophomore Kelsey McNair pitched five strong innings, and San Rafael extended its winning streak to six games Friday with a 2-1 Marin County Athletic League victory over Tamalpais.

McNair (3-0) combined with freshman Thomara Drummer on a four-hitter for San Rafael (15-4, 7-3), which has won 12 of its last 13 games.

McNair struck out seven batters, walked two and gave up three runs (one earned) and three hits.

Drummer struck out five and walked none in two shutout innings of one-hit ball.

Everett extended her hitting streak to 12 games.

She’s batting .508 (31 for 61) with 17 extra-base hits including four home runs and hit safely in all but two of the 19 games in which she’s appeared.

One of the region’s top young hitting prospects has a .581 on-base average, is slugging .967 and has an unheard of 1.548 OPS.

Freshman Eden Clark (3-1) experienced her first career loss despite a solid outing for Tamalpais. She struck out seven, walked none and gave up two runs on seven hits.

Kacea Stetler and Carly Waldeck each had two hits for Tamalpais (8-9, 4-6), which experienced its fourth straight loss.
