XR Marin Encourages Female Students to Discover Extended Reality

XR Women Entrepreneurs Mentor Female Students About Career Opportunities in XR: Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality & 360 Video

Novato, CA – On Saturday, April 27, XR Marin will host XR Super Girls, a tech empowerment workshop aimed to inspire female students to pursue careers in science and technology via the awesome potential of Extended Reality (XR): Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and 360-degree video. Through mentoring and inspiration from three top female entrepreneurs in XR, this workshop is designed to help each female student discover her dependable strengths, abilities and unique super powers while learning about academic and career pathways in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics (STEAM).

Marin County middle school, high school and college students will hear from three women entrepreneurs leading the way in XR : Suzanne Borders, Co-Founder, BadVR , Barbara DeHart, Sama Learning and Sophia Batchelor, UC Berkeley Virtual Reality. Keynote speakers will share their journeys as female entrepreneurs while imparting a powerful message about why there should be more women pursuing a STEAM education and careers in tech. Students will have a unique opportunity to participate in mentoring breakout sessions with keynote speakers. Female students will also have an opportunity to try VR.

This event was organized by XR Marin to encourage young female students to pursue opportunities in immersive technology as a way to build high demand skills to better prepare
them for college and career in a global economy. XR Marin is a new regional training center for Extended Reality technologies: Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, and 360-degree video--spearheaded by Marin County Office of Education in partnership with College of Marin, Novato Unified School District, Marin Free Library, and Workforce Alliance of the North Bay.
