Armed Robbery Suspects Crash Stolen Vehicle: Deputies

A search for suspects prompted a shelter-in-place in Santa Cruz County.

SANTA CRUZ, CA — Law enforcement officials are searching for three armed robbery suspects who crashed a stolen vehicle during a police pursuit on Monday, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded to reports of an armed robbery near Highway 9 and State Route 35 shortly before 8:15 a.m. A victim said they were robbed at gunpoint by multiple suspects.

A neighboring law enforcement agency later spotted the suspects driving a stolen car and pursued them, deputies said. The suspects eventually crashed the car near mile marker 24 on Highway 9 and fled on foot.

Police said they recovered two loaded firearms at the scene of the crash.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for the surrounding area, but it was lifted as of Monday afternoon.

The suspects were described as two men and one woman, in their 20s.
