338 Pistachios In 8 Minutes: New Eating Record Set In Santa Monica

Australian James Webb bested the LA Chargers' Joey Bosa and other competitive eaters in the Get Crackin' Eating Championship.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Cracking open and eating 338 pistachios in just eight minutes, Australian James Webb set a new world record at the Wonderful Pistachios Get Crackin’ Eating Championship on Monday.

Webb's performance bested the record set last year, 188 pistachios, established during the inaugural pistachio eating contest by Nick Wehry, according to contest organizers.

This year, Webb also beat Los Angeles Chargers linebacker Joey Bosa, who ate 152 pistachios, and No. 1-ranked competitive eater Joey Chestnut, who ate 167.

Organized by Major League Eating and Wonderful Pistachios, the contest is unique among competitive eating events in that it requires contestants to work to get to their food by cracking open the pistachios.
