Desparada is the bold venture of Vailia From into the space between earth and imagination. She utilizes grapes sourced from nearly 20 of the Central Coast’s most iconic vineyards, using a growing arsenal of amphorae (one is pictured above) to create wines free of stylistic constraints. Herman Story Wines are made by Vailia’s husband Russell From. He is a man of few (written) words, allowing him to spend more time focused on his wines. The names of his wines, as you will see, are basic yet eclectic. Each wine has a story to tell, requiring it to be consumed to be fully understood. Tonight, Vailia will join us as we taste 2 of her wines and 2 from Russell. Fear not- she loves and understands his wines as well as her own and is a great spokesperson for both. The wines will be paired with a delicious gourmet menu created by Orto’s owner Andrea Inio & his culinary team. All of the featured wines will be available for ordering at very attractive prices (most of them are such small production they never make it to retail shops). Great news! Just got news from Russell From, the owner/winemaker from Herman Story. He has cleared his calendar and will be joining his wife and fellow winemaker Vailia at the dinner. So, two great wineries, two great winemakers, 4 gourmet courses- Make plans to join us!
