Harrison Ford To Receive Critics Choice Career Achievement Award

Ford "has starred in many of the most successful and acclaimed films in cinema history," Critics Choice Awards, organizers announced.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Actor Harrison Ford, best known for his iconic roles as Han Solo in "Star Wars" and as the swashbuckling archeologist in the "Indiana Jones" film series, will receive a Career Achievement Award at Sunday's 29th annual Critics Choice Awards, organizers announced Tuesday.

Ford is nominated for a Critics Choice Award this year for best supporting actor in a comedy series, for his work on Apple TV+'s "Shrinking."

In making the announcement, the Critics Choice Association noted that Ford "has starred in many of the most successful and acclaimed films in cinema history, including the landmark `Star Wars' and `Indiana Jones' franchises and a total of eight Best Picture Oscar-nominated movies.

"Ford has garnered a number of Best Actor award nominations including one Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, and one BAFTA Award," according to the organization. "Over the course of his illustrious career, Ford has been repeatedly honored for his contributions to the film industry, including the British Academy of Film and Television Arts' Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award, the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award, and more. Ford also received an Honorary César Award in 2010. In 1994, the National Association of Theater Owners named him the Box Office Star of the Century."

Ford's Oscar nomination for best actor was for the 1985 drama "Witness." His other film credits include "Blade Runner," "Working Girl," "Patriot Games," "Clear and Present Danger," "The Fugitive," "Air Force One," "American Graffiti" and "42."

He recently reprised his role of Indiana Jones in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny." In addition to "Shrinking," he also appears in the "Yellowstone" spinoff series "1923."

The Critics Choice Awards will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, hosted by Chelsea Handler.
