Heavy Flooding Snarls Traffic On Pacific Coast Highway

Flooding heavily impacted roads in Santa Monica on Friday, causing traffic standstill on major freeways and roadways.

SANTA MONICA, CA — Traffic was significantly backed up in Santa Monica Friday morning during rush hour and into the afternoon due to heavy flooding along the coast.

At about 7:30 a.m., Caltrans shut down all lanes on southbound Pacific Coast Highway at the McClure Tunnel while maintenance worked on draining water. Traffic was diverted onto Ocean Avenue.

All lanes on State Route 1 were reopened just before 11 a.m.
