One Lane Closes On Pacific Coast Highway In Malibu, Santa Monica

The California Department of Transportation will close one lane of Pacific Coast Highway for pavement repairs through Thursday.

SANTA MONICA, CA — The California Department of Transportation will close one lane of Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu and Santa Monica for pavement repairs this week, officials said Monday.

The road construction will be underway on State Route 1 through Thursday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to Caltrans.

At least one lane in each direction will remain open for traffic.

Here are the scheduled lane closures:

  • Monday: The northbound right lane (#2) and the Winter Canyon transition to northbound SR-1 (Pacific Coast Highway) will be closed north of Webb Way in Malibu (at postmile 48.1).
  • Tuesday: The northbound right lane (#2) just before Zumirez Drive will close in Malibu (at postmile 53.6).
  • Wednesday: The northbound right lane (#2) will be closed west of La Herran Road in Malibu (at postmile 59.4).
  • Thursday: The southbound right lane (#2) just north of the McClure Tunnel will close in Santa Monica (at postmile 35.3).

The schedule for construction is subject to change due to weather, Caltrans said.

Drivers are advised to allow for extra travel time, drive with care during work zones and look out for workers.
