SANTA MONICA, CA — LA's famous mobile smash burger will find its first permanent home in Santa Monica this fall.

Popular food truck Heavy Handed will open a burger stand by the beach at 2912 Main Street in October, the eatery announced on Instagram. Heavy Handed will take over the old Edobox by Makoto spot.

The truck is known for its saucy short rib smash burgers and fries, but the Santa Monica spot will also serve beer, ice cream and wine. Patrons can enjoy their burgers on an outdoor patio with loud music, Heavy Handed said on Instagram.

"We've come a long way," the burger spot said on Instagram.

The store was first announced in the Los Angeles Times, which reported the Santa Monica spot is not Heavy Handed's last stop. The group will also look to add more storefronts and continue operating the food truck as a catering vehicle.

The Heavy Handed truck serves short rib burgers with grilled onions, American cheese, house made buns and butter pickles, slathered with heavy sauce. Add beef tallow-fried French fries on the side.
