Serial Sex Assault Suspect Who Targeted LA Homeless Women Sentenced To Prison

A man who sexually assaulted homeless women in LA and Santa Monica was sentenced to eight years in prison, police said.

SANTA MONICA, CA — A previously convicted sex offender accused of committing a series of sexual assaults in Santa Monica and Los Angeles has been sentenced to eight years in prison, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

Anthony Pittman, who is homeless, on Feb. 2 pled no contest to sodomy by use of force and assault with intent to commit a sex crime. He was sentenced to state prison, court records show.

The sexual assaults occurred between August and September 2022, the SMPD said.

One incident occurred on Sept. 27, 2022 at around 4 a.m. when a homeless woman sleeping near the Santa Monica Library awoke to a man attempting to remove her blankets. After she attempted to run away, he tackled her and sexually assaulted her, the SMPD said.

The other incidents, all against homeless women, occurred in the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast and Wilshire divisions, police said.

Investigators used DNA evidence to link Pittman to the crimes, police said.
