The Merc is pleased to present acclaimed flutist Lori Bell with her project, Trio de Janeiro. The group features Lori Bell on flutes, the amazing multi-instrumentalist and singer Ron Satterfield, and Kevin Koch on percussion. Together, they present a high-energy, Brazilian-tinged jazz trio with an original approach to jazz standards, Brazilian music, original compositions, and folk music. Lori Bell is a three-time Global Music Award winner and has performed at prestigious venues such as Birdland NYC, the Kennedy Center, and for the Los Angeles Philharmonic Music Library. Ron Satterfield has won numerous awards from SESAC for his composing and arranging and was a Grammy finalist with the eclectic group Checkfield. Our host Jillian is a certified yoga and meditation teacher and she will start to gently guide you through a simple breathing and body relaxation exercise to start the decompression process. Everyone will have eyes closed so you will feel as though you are the only person in the room. Gradually, crystal singing bowls, gongs and other relaxing instruments will lull you safely into a light, dreamlike state. Allow the gentle waves of sound to wash away stress and tension, promoting deep relaxation and self-love. The harmonious sounds will guide you into a state of inner peace and tranquility.
