Union City Election Results: Decisive Vote On Measure Z Sales Tax

UNION CITY, CA — All votes cast in Union City and Alameda County on Tuesday have been tallied, along with mail-in ballots that have been received through Tuesday, according to the Alameda County Election website, which released the final vote totals at 9:41 p.m.

Mail-in ballots will continue to be received and county by Alameda County in the days ahead. The ballots needed to be postmarked by Tuesday in order to be valid.

Measure Z, which allows Union City to continue collecting a 1/2 cent sales tax for an extra nine years, is leading by a wide margin — 3,592 (75%) to 1,148 (24%).

For City Council, Jaime Patino leads Chuck Kennedy, Jeff Wang leads Kristy Boer, and Scott Sakakihara leads Vipan S. Bajwa.

For school board, Shruti Kumar has a comfortable lead over Ed Mack Agbuya.

In the hotly contested Alameda County District Attorney's race Terry Wiley has a 6,000 vote lead over Pamela Price.
