3-Year-Old Spotted Walking Alone In Avon Reunited With Parent: Police

A driver saw the girl walking alone with two dogs, and her parent contacted police after seeing posts about her in a Facebook group.

AVON, CT — A 3-year-old girl has returned to her home after a driver saw her walking alone with two unleashed dogs down Route 177 in Avon Monday morning, police said.

The driver called Avon police to report the child at around 9:51 a.m., and when officers arrived, they couldn't find her parent or guardian in the surrounding streets and neighborhoods.

Community members began posting about the girl in several local Facebook groups, and police said her parent contacted the department after becoming aware of the Facebook posts.

The child, uninjured and in good health, has returned to her home, police said. The Connecticut Department of Children and Families is investigating the incident.

"Many concerned Avon citizens at the location where the child was found offered their assistance," Avon police said in a news release. "The Avon Police Department would like to thank the many concerned individuals for their assistance during today's event."
