Register Now for Fundraiser on Tuesday, September 17 at Wethersfield Country Club

A Connecticut non-profit organization is gearing up for its 2024 golf tournament fundraiser. The Denise D'Ascenzo Golf Tournament, presented by Goff Law Group, will be held on Tuesday, September 17th at Wethersfield Country Club in Wethersfield. All proceeds from this tournament benefit the foundation, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that was established to continue the legacy of love and kindness of the beloved longtime broadcaster by raising funds, and donating them to a wide variety of organizations.

The Foundation’s second tournament begins on the newly restored golf course with a 10:30 a.m. registration and driving/putting practice, then an 11 a.m. barbecue lunch, a 12 p.m. scramble start followed by a dinner with live auctions led by WFSB-TV 3’s Kara Sundlun and Scot Haney and WTNH-TV 8’s Dennis House, who also is President of the Foundation.

Tournament organizers seek players (singles, pairs and foursomes). Players enjoy 18-holes of golf with carts; Barbecue Lunch; Awards Dinner; Special Tournament Gifts for all players; On-Course & Clubhouse Contests that include Gross, Net, Hole-in-Ones, Closest to the Pin, Longest Drives, and more. Registration for Singles: $300; Pairs $600; and foursomes: $1,200. A variety of sponsorships with added visibility are available for businesses and individuals starting at $250 for a tee or green sign.

Branford, Conn. resident Denise D’Ascenzo was a beloved anchor at WFSB Channel 3 for 33 years until her sudden death on December 7, 2019. At the time, she was the longest serving news anchor at any single Connecticut television station and an Emmy-award winning journalist many times over. Soon after her passing, many of her family, friends and co-workers created a 501(c)3 nonprofit foundation in Denise’s name. Its mission is to continue her legacy of love and kindness by supporting advances in medicine and health, promoting responsibility in the media, and assisting those facing physical and mental challenges.

The Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation raises funds through events that include its golf tournaments, the annual springtime Walk to Fight Rare Diseases at Quinnipiac University, and the new signature Denise D’Ascenzo Foundation’s Human Spirit Awards Dinner to be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at the Marriott Hartford Downtown – tickets on sale now at www.TheDeniseFoundation.com.
