CLINTON, CT — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Clinton late Saturday, police said.

At 10:15 p.m., police and emergency personnel responded to the area of the Clinton Shoreline East Train Station for a report of a train having struck a pedestrian, police said.

The initial investigation revealed that a woman had been fatally struck by a train while she was on the tracks, police said. The circumstances surrounding the tragedy are still unknown, police added.

Due to the incident having occurred on Amtrak property, the Amtrak Police Department has been assigned as the primary investigating agency.
