Coronavirus Positivity Rate In Danbury Still Over 9%

Statewide, there were 3,407 coronavirus cases reported in the past week, according to the Department of Public Health.

DANBURY, CT — The number of COVID-19 cases in the state continue to trend downward, three weeks after the state hit the grim milestone of 11,000 coronavirus-associated deaths. In Danbury and much of southwestern Connecticut, however, the case rate remains stubborn.

Statewide, there were still 3,407 coronavirus cases reported in the past week, according to the Department of Public Health. Forty-two of those were in Danbury.

Connecticut's coronavirus death total now stands at 11,055, according to state data, the toll rising by 10 over the past seven days. In Danbury, 218 residents have died of coronavirus-associated illness since the start of the pandemic.

There were 264 patients hospitalized with the virus Thursday, or 29 more than last week. A little over 35 percent of the hospitalized were not fully vaccinated, according to the DPH.
