Danbury Crews Rescue Boaters Sinking In Candlewood Lake: PD

Emergency crews came to the rescue of nine people in a sinking ship in the area of Sand Island.

DANBURY, CT — Marine emergency crews from Danbury and Brookfield were called into action Saturday to rescue people from a boat sinking in Candlewood Lake.

Candlewood Lake Authority made the call for assistance at 10:29 p.m., with a report that a boat with nine people aboard was sinking in the area of Sand Island.

Brookfield crews arrived first, transferred all nine people onto their boat, and ferried them to safety.

The Danbury emergency workers stayed on station to assist the Candlewood Lake Authority officers in beaching the sinking boat and retrieving a disabled jet ski.

No one was injured and the situation was brought under control very quickly, according to Danbury Fire officials.
