DANBURY, CT — The Connecticut Department of Agriculture has awarded $50,000 to the United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut for its Seedlings to Sprouts program.

This funding is meant to enhance access to and consumption of healthy, local fruits and vegetables in Greater Danbury and New Milford by providing nutrition education, local food access, hands-on experience, and community engagement programs for child care providers and families.

"I am pleased to see this investment in the Seedlings to Sprout program. By expanding access to nutritious, locally grown produce and offering education on healthy eating habits, we are paving the way for our children's lifelong well-being," said Rep. Farley Santos, who represents Danbury's 109th District in the Connecticut General Assembly.
