Danbury Hometown Heroes Banner Program To Accept Current Photos

The banner program will now accept current or most recent photos of the honoree if a photo of the honoree in uniform is not available.

The Danbury Hometown Heroes Banner Program will now accept current or most recent photos of the honoree in the event that a photo of the honoree in uniform is not available.

Program Coordinator Lee Teicholz stated that applications in the past were not approved when a photo of the honoree in uniform was not available, but after reconsideration, they will now be accepted.

“There will now be more opportunity to honor your local hero with a hometown heroes banner,” he stated.

The banner program proudly recognizes active duty and veteran service members who have been honorably discharged, both living and deceased. Each banner honors a specific Danbury service member whether a current or past resident of the city and features his or her name, rank, branch of service, era of service, service dates, photo, and donor information.

The banners are displayed from Memorial Day through Veterans Day and are placed in storage for the winter months. They can be redisplayed the following year for an additional cost. Banners are displayed on White Street between Fifth Avenue and Lee Hartell Drive, Crosby Street and at Danbury City Hall. Profits from the program are used to support veteran services in the City of Danbury. Applications for the 2025 display year are currently being accepted and must be received by March 1, 2025.
