Danbury Man Named GNAC Men’s Basketball Player of the Week

Emmanuel College junior Marcus Fox of Danbury has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

From Emmanuel College: Emmanuel College junior forward Marcus Fox (Danbury, Conn.) has been named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced on Monday afternoon by the conference office. This marks the first time of his career that he has been named the GNAC Player of the Week, after earning a pair of Rookie of the Week honors during his freshman season.


The Danbury, Conn. native averaged 22.5 points and 11.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week, while shooting 69.6% (16-23 FG) overall. The junior opened the week with a 25-point, 11-rebound double-double in a tight 96-91 victory over Saint Joseph’s College (ME) before closing the weekend with 20 points and 12 boards vs. Regis College in the Catholic Charities Classic.

On the season, Fox is currently averaging 18.0 points to rank second on the Saints and eighth overall in the GNAC. On the glass, Fox is almost averaging a double-double at 9.7 rebounds per game to rank first on the squad and third in the GNAC. An extremely efficient big man, Fox is currently shooting 55.0% from the field (82-149) to rank sixth in the conference while his 48.0% from behind the arc is tied for fourth in the GNAC.

Over his career, Fox has appeared in 60 games earning 55 starts. The forward has compiled 781 points and 388 rebounds and is on pace to become just the seventh player in program history to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds.
The Saints are 10-2 overall, the best start in program history through 12 games, and return to action on Sunday, January 11 when they host Rivier University at 1:00 PM in non-conference play at the Andy Yosinoff Court.
