Danbury Pedestrian Killed Trying To Cross I-84: Police

A Danbury man was struck by a car and killed trying to cross Interstate 84 on Sunday, according to State Police.

Mariano Canales-Hernandez​, 77, was taken to Danbury Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

DANBURY, CT — A Danbury man was killed trying to cross Interstate 84 on Sunday.

The fatal accident occurred shortly before 4 p.m.

Mariano Canales-Hernandez, 77, was attempting to cross I-84 East, from the center median, when he was struck by a Rhode Island motorist driving a 2016 Honda.

Canales-Hernandez was taken to Danbury Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

This accident is under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Smith #1103 of State Police Troop A at 203-267-2200.
