DANBURY, CT — The City of Danbury is warning motorists that a few large paving projects may be cutting into their daily commutes.

Road construction on Wooster Heights Road commenced Tuesday and should last approximately 2-3 weeks, city officials posted on their website.

Although this work will not result in road closings, there is the possibility of travel restrictions during this work period, according to the post. There will be no on-street parking during the construction period.

Also snarling traffic will be the Franklin Street Extension Bridge Project, near the intersection of Franklin Street Extension and Gregory Street. Eversource Gas Company is relocating the gas main that currently crosses over the top of the existing bridge to facilitate the bridge construction. The work is expected to continue for approximately another three weeks.

Danbury Police Officers are directing traffic during the work, which involves closing one travel lane and alternating traffic on to the remaining lane, and will also include the full road closure and detour for several days.

The Public Works Department is also in the midst of the installation of several new water mains on White Street and Ninth Avenue and will continue for approximately three weeks. This construction work will require the closure of one travel lane, and Danbury police officers are once again directing the traffic.

Any questions on the project should be directed to the Danbury Department of Public Works at 203-797-4605.
