Obituary: Barbara A. Showah, 95, Lifelong Danbury Resident

Barbara was the retired proprietor of the former Barbara's Boutique.

DANBURY, CT — Barbara A. Showah, 95, of Danbury died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2024.

Barbara was born in Danbury on May 12, 1928 a daughter of the late Michael and Anna Showah. A lifelong Danbury resident, she attended Danbury schools and graduated from Danbury High School with the Class of 1947.

The retired proprietor of the former Barbara’s Boutique, Barbara was previously associated with the former McLean’s Department Store of Danbury. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and gardening and was a member of the Danbury Garden Club and St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church of Danbury.

Barbara is survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ann Nahas, John Showah and Samuel Showah.

The Rite of Burial will take place on Monday, February 26, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 125 Kohanza Street, Danbury.

Burial will follow in Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends on Monday in St. George Church from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
