Obituary: Lillian Almeida Paiva, 92, Of Danbury

Lilian, formerly an executive secretary for Coherent Associates in Danbury, also served as a councilwoman for the City in the late 1970s.

DANBURY, CT — Lillian Almeida Paiva, age 92 of Danbury, and formerly of Lake Worth, FL passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024 at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Lillian was born in Danbury April 1, 1932, the daughter of the late Ernest and Sadie (Perry) Almeida. She attended Saint Peter School and was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1950. She married her late husband Joseph S. Paiva, Jr., in 1953 and together raised their family in Danbury. They were married for 54 years at the time of his passing.

Lillian was employed as a secretary for the Barden Corporation, and later as an executive secretary for Coherent Associates in Danbury. She served as a councilwoman for the City of Danbury in the late 1970s. In later years, she spent time in Florida where she worked as an office manager for Land Design South in West Palm Beach. She was a longtime parishioner of Saint Peter Church, Danbury.

Lillian is survived by her son Ronald Joseph Paiva and his wife Ann of Florida, her daughter Lynn Paiva of Danbury, and daughter Dr. Joann Paiva-Borduas and her husband John of Woodbury; her granddaughter Heather Rucks and her husband Carl of Florida, her grandson Ryan Joseph Paiva of Arizona; great granddaughters Avery and Savannah Rucks of Florida; sister-in-law Natalie Enteado of Florida, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lillian was predeceased by her sister Elsie Amaral.

There will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at Saint Peter Church, Danbury. Interment will follow at Saint Peter Cemetery, Danbury.
