Special Weather Statement Just Issued For Southern Connecticut

INTERIOR SECTIONS OF SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for interior sections of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties.

The weather service said "spotty freezing drizzle and patchy black ice" is expected until around midnight.

"Spotty freezing drizzle will be possible through around midnight, before temperatures slowly rise above freezing. Any ice accretion will be limited to elevated surfaces early this evening, but as surface temps cool to freezing after sundown, untreated moist surfaces could become icy. The threat for patchy icing will decrease after midnight with temperatures expected to slowly rise above freezing."

And then on Monday, there is a chance for a snowstorm, according to the National Weather Service. We'll see.

Tonight: Patchy drizzle with a chance of rain before 2am, then a chance of rain between 2am and 4am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a steady temperature around 37. East wind 5 to 9 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a temperature falling to around 30 by 5pm. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Breezy, with a northwest wind 14 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 14. Wind chill values between 5 and 10. Northwest wind 7 to 14 mph.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 1pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 30. Wind chill values between 5 and 15. Light and variable wind becoming south 5 to 9 mph in the afternoon.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of snow after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 42.

Monday Night: Snow. Low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

Tuesday: Snow likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38. Chance of precipitation is 70%.
