Unanimous Choice For Top High School Wrestling Team In State

The winner of the past three State Open championships sits atop the first rankings of 2020.

CONNECTICUT — To the surprise of roughly no one, 3-time defending State Open champion Danbury was a unanimous selection as the top high school wrestling team in Connecticut in the initial balloting of 2020. The Hatters copped all 15 top votes to easily outdistance Fairfield Warde and Simsbury.

Here are the top 10, plus all other programs receiving votes.

  5. Xavier
  6. Staples
  7. Southington
  8. Foran
  9. Killingly
  10. Manchester

Also receiving votes: Montville, Bristol Central, New Milford, Wethersfield, Haddam-Killingworth, Platt, Guilford, East Haven, Trumbull, Ledyard, Greenwich, Avon, Ellis Tech, Windham, New Canaan, Joel Barlow, Glastonbury, Middletown, Suffield/Windsor Locks.
