Matt’s life was defined by his insatiable thirst for adventure. He was the youngest Australian to ever reach the North Pole on foot and one of only five people to do it three times. He led teams in some of the toughest conditions on the planet, including three record-breaking expeditions to the North Pole and two-long haul sailing trips to Antarctica. In 2013 Matt rowed, sailed, and dragged a small boat 2,000 miles across the infamous Northwest Passage in the Canadian Arctic. Through his expeditions he not only conquered some of the most unforgiving terrain on the planet but also discovered the depths of human resilience and determination. As a keynote speaker, Matt took his audiences on a “journey” through his incredible experiences leaving a lasting impact on all.

The beach held a special place in his heart whether it was Coogee Beach in Sydney, or Fairfield Beach where he was an avid member of the Jennings Beach Polar Bears. Matt had a remarkable ability to bring people together, build a strong sense of community and connection wherever he went. He would affectionately refer to those he just met as “mate” and loved nothing more than being surrounded by friends and family having a laugh or chat. Matt’s courage, kindness, humor and unwavering determination will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.
