West-Conn Tool, a precision contract manufacturer specializing in the medical device and aerospace industries, now hosts one of the first additive and subtractive manufacturing sites in New England. To reflect the company’s transformation, West-Conn has changed its name to “Westconn Precision Technologies.

“American manufacturing is alive and well in Connecticut,” stated Laura Marasco, the CEO and Owner of Westconn Precision Technologies (WPT). “Our new name, Westconn Precision Technologies, personifies the advances in manufacturing within our company and our state-of-the-art facility producing top-quality products for our customers,” Marasco added.

Over four decades, WPT has grown from a tool & die manufacturer to a multi-faceted company by capitalizing on innovations in manufacturing and distribution strategies. With a global customer base including Fortune 500 companies, WPT has delivered key components in the development of life-altering surgical techniques and instrumentation.

To help lead WPT through its growth, Dave Ivanko of Fairfield has been appointed President of Westconn Precision Technologies. Ivanko is an award-winning manufacturing and quality engineering executive with leadership positions in companies including NuVasive, Inc. in San Diego; NexusSpine in Utah; and Leiberg & Son in Bridgeport. His first engineering position was with US Surgical now operating as Medtronic.

“WPT engineers for manufacturability, with the utmost respect for the nuances, materials and decision-making that goes into even the smallest of components which is why for decades my employers used WPT as a top tier supplier,” stated Dave Ivanko, President of WPT. “To lead the team at WPT is very fulfilling after benefiting from their precision components and assemblies over the years,” Ivanko added.

Though the new name reflects a new identity, the skilled technicians, craftsmen, staff and ownership remain unchanged. It employs approximately 40 highly skilled individuals with expected growth in the near future. It partners with local vocational-technical schools to help train the next generation of manufacturers.

“Dave Ivanko worked with my father for decades and their teamwork contributed to the success of our family business,” stated Jake Marasco, WPT COO. “We recruited Dave to be WPT president because we knew he respected our past while helping us implement our vision for WPT’s future growth in Connecticut,” Marasco added.
