GUILFORD, CT — The Guilford Board of Selectmen last week unanimously voted to contract with Creative Recreation to install new playgrounds at Bittner Park and Jacob's Beach, according to the minutes of the most recent selectmen meeting.

The projects have gone through all the necessary approvals in town, and they will be paid for using American Rescue Plan Act funds. Bittner Park will cost $406,000, and Jacob's Beach comes in at $490,000, according to the minutes. The prices include the cost for removal of the old equipment.

Earlier this year, the Guilford Parks and Recreation Department launched a survey to determine the design for the playgrounds.

Based on input from the community, the Playground Committee chose "Twist & Turn" for Bittner, and "Adventure Awaits" for Jacob's Beach.

Each playground includes ADA-compliant rubber surfacing to ensure accessibility for individuals of all abilities.
