2 Charged With Cruelty To Animals In Ledyard: Police

Two Ledyard women were charged after animals were found in "extremely poor condition," according to police.

LEDYARD, CT — Two people are facing cruelty to animals charges in Ledyard, according to police.

Ledyard Animal Control received a call April 6 from a woman, identified as Quiana Durham, 33, of Ledyard, "demanding (animal control) come and take possession of 'abandoned animals,'" according to police.

Animal control arrived and found "five various types of animals found in extremely poor condition as well as the animals’ poor living conditions," police said.

Animal control seized the animals.

Durham and Precious Michaud, 26, of Ledyard, were each charged with five counts of cruelty to animals.

They were released on $10,000 bond each and are scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on May 16.
