LEDYARD, CT — After finishing last week above 4 percent, the daily statewide coronavirus level has stayed comfortably below 2 percent over the past seven days. In Ledyard, the net positivity has dropped slightly.

Ledyard had an average of 17.1 daily cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 4.6 percent between Sept. 5 and Sept. 18, according to the state Department of Public Health. There were 19.1 daily cases per 100,000 residents on the average in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a small number of cases can have a large impact on a municipal case rate, especially for small towns.

The number of residents hospitalized with COVID-19 has also kept on a slow descent since the end of August. There are now 282 patients in Connecticut hospitals being treated for the virus, down from 325 this time last week.

There were 36 coronavirus-associated deaths recorded in Connecticut last week, and 31 the week before, bringing the state death toll to 8,483. In Ledyard, 11 residents have died from coronavirus-associated illness since the beginning of the pandemic.

Connecticut vaccinations are climbing slowly but steadily, about one percentage point per eligible age tier per week, with the exception of the youngest group. Vaccinations among those aged 11-15 are increasing about two percent weekly.
