LEDYARD, CT — Hard Rock Cafe has announced that it will lay off 68 employees from April 13 to 27, according to a document filed with the state Department of Labor.

"As you know," company officials wrote, "the COVID-19 virus recently reached pandemic proportions and the federal government and many states have declared a state of emergency and issued business closure and travel restriction orders. These sudden and unexpected circumstances adversely affected our business operations."

Company officials noted in the document that the furloughs are expected to be temporary and that the restaurant hopes to "re-engage as many employees as possible once business levels return to normal after the pandemic ends."
