Elderly Woman Killed In Griswold Accident; Driver Charged: Reports

A man was charged with leaving the scene of a crash that led to the death of a 96-year-old Branford woman, according to reports.

GRISWOLD, CT — A Branford woman who was days away from her 97th birthday died in a car crash in Griswold on Sunday, Hearst Connecticut Media reported.

State police identified Charlotte Degrado as the person who died in the accident. The crash occurred at about 4:45 p.m.

The other driver is facing charges. Franklin Barry Post, 35, of Bozrah, was charged with evading responsibility in a collision that resulted in death, WFSB 3-TV reported.

The two vehicles collided on Taylor Hill Road near a restaurant. Post was driving an SUV and failed to obey a stop sign, WFSB 3-TV reported.

Police are still searching for a second person in Post's car, who fled on foot.
