Foxwoods Employee Tests Positive For COVID-19

LEDYARD, CT — Foxwoods released information Wednesday that an employee tested positive for coronavirus July 27. The casino said that the team member had minimal daily contact with guests and is part of a small work group.

Foxwoods released the following statement: "We have been informed of a Foxwoods team member who tested positive for COVID-19 on July 27. The individual has minimal contact with guests on a daily basis and is part of a small work group. Once made aware of the case, we immediately notified our Safety Prevention and Response Team who quickly began contact tracing. Those who had prolonged contact with the individual have already been notified. They will be tested and remain quarantined for 14 days even if they test negatively.

"To our knowledge, this is the first positive team member case at Foxwoods, and we have seen thousands of guests visit us since reopening on June 1."

Earlier this month, Mohegan Sun said that three employees at the casino tested positive for coronavirus, WFSB reported. The casino then implemented protocols for testing, contract tracing, and isolating.

Foxwoods brought 2,000 employees back to work when they reopened June 1. Visitors have been required to have their temperature checked at the door, wear masks, practice social distancing and liberally use hand sanitizer readily available throughout the property.
