LEDYARD, CT — A Ledyard man is facing charges that he had illegal assault weapons and large-capacity magazines, according to police.

The 55-year-old man turned himself in to police on a warrant Thursday at 5:09 a.m.

Police responded to his Colonel Ledyard Highway home Jan. 26 at 3:31 p.m. for a domestic violence incident. Police found the man had several unregistered guns and high-capacity magazines, which were seized.

He was charged with two counts of illegal possession of an assault weapon and 12 counts of illegal possession of large-capacity magazines.

The man was held on $10,000 bond and was scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Thursday.
