“Live United” Kicks Off With a Barbeque

Reps. France and McCarty and Sen. Formica attend United Way Campaign Launch

NORWICH – Despite the clouds and early rain, the dedicated volunteers of United Way of Southeastern Connecticut put on a bright and positive barbeque Tuesday to kick off their 2016 campaign. State Reps. Mike France (R-Ledyard) and Kathleen McCarty (R-Waterford) and State Sen. Paul Formica (R-20) attended to support the organization’s service to their communities in New London County.

“United Way serves as an inspirational leader in our state for responsibly using funding – donations, in this case – to put the people first and provide the human and social services we need,” said Rep. France.
“They are an outstanding example of the strength of non-profit organizations in our state, delivering much needed services to the most vulnerable in our community. I appreciated the opportunity to be a part of last week’s event and thank United Way for inviting me.”

“This organization is made up of such caring individuals who possess a real vision of how to improve the quality of life in our community,” said Rep. McCarty. “You can really see how much the volunteers care about their cause – with a majority of them coming from local businesses and corporations like Electric Boat, Soft Rock WBMW, SAVA Insurance, Mohegan Sun and Charter Oak. I am very impressed with the work United Way has accomplished, and with their goals for the year to come.”

It makes a positive impact on people’s lives and it creates a multiplier effect which can be seen in the strength of the human service initiatives throughout the region. Rep. France, Rep. McCarty and I are delighted to be a part of
this unified effort.”
