Snow Showers Thursday, Below Zero Soon In Ledyard

The National Weather Service issued a "Hazardous Weather Outlook" for record cold this weekend and a chance for more snow.

Parts of Connecticut have been dealing with snow showers this morning, accumulating only an inch or so on the ground.

More snow showers are possible until later this afternoon but it will be hit and miss as to who actually ends up seeing snowflakes. Currently, a half inch is possible for New Haven and Fairfield counties, and an inch or two of snow for Middlesex, New London, Hartford and Tolland counties, according to the National Weather Service.

After the light snow chance fades, attention turns to the weekend. A “Hazardous Weather Outlook” has already been issued for the entire state, for the coldest air of the winter season. The entire state will likely reach below zero temperatures Saturday night.

Here is the latest from the National Weather Service:

New London County: An extended cold snap begins Friday and continues into Monday, the National Weather Service states. Wind chills could fall as low as 25 below zero late Saturday night into early Sunday morning.

On Friday night, temps will be 14 degrees. On Saturday temps will be near 15 degrees and around -3 Saturday night. On Sunday, temps will be near 12-14 degrees with a low near 5 degrees.

And yes, snow is likely Monday night, turning to heavy rain Tuesday, which may cause flooding.
