MIDDLETOWN, CT — Connecticut’s coronavirus situation continues to move in the wrong direction as winter approaches.

The number of people hospitalized with the virus reached its highest point since April. The average number of daily cases continues to rise, and the percentage of tests coming back positive is also elevated.

Middletown had 25.8 average daily cases per 100,000 residents and a positive test rate of 2.10 percent between Nov. 14-27, according to the state Department of Public Health. There were 21 average daily cases per 100,000 residents in the previous two-week reporting period. It’s important to note that a few cases can have a large impact on a municipal case rate, especially for small towns.
