MILFORD, CT — When Mia Morse ran a simple fever, her parents had no idea at the time that the situation would soon turn "into every parent’s worst nightmare."

The almost 4-year-old girl recently developed a tumor the size of a cantaloupe on her kidney. While a recent surgery was successful, she now faces 42 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation. She was diagnosed with stage 3 nephroblastoma (Wilm’s Tumor).

The community is rallying around the family and have established a GoFundMe page to help raise funds to alleviate expenses. Already, nearly $34,000 has been raised.

According to the GoFundMe page, which was set up by Brooke Hayden and Nick Morse, it states "Mia Morse is a hilariously imaginative, adorable, super sweet (almost) 4 year old. She is the oldest sibling to twins (Ava and Gio) and loves her puppy (Lionel). She is her mom’s absolute mini-me and a total daddy’s girl. 99% of the time you can find her in full costume and she is a very believable princess. She is every kids favorite friend."

"The surgery was successful in removing this tumor as well as her kidney," the fundraiser states. "She’s healing from surgery and doing great. While this is a win— pathology results came back stating that Mia has stage 3 nephroblastoma (Wilm’s Tumor)."

"Unfortunately, Mia has a lot of chemotherapy and some radiation to do. The doctors estimated around 42 weeks of treatment for our sweet girl. Fortunately, so many people have reached out and want to help Mia and her family in anyway they can. It’s an amazing thing to see. Whether it be family, friends, coworkers, or preschool- everyone has the same thought. What can we do? How can we support Mia? How can we help Lisa and Nick?" the fundraiser states.
