A 44-Year-Old Woman Was Shot In The Arm On Valley Street Monday: PD

NEW HAVEN, CT — It was just after 1:30 a.m., when a woman, 44, was shot in the arm by a man she knows on Valley Street, police said.

First dispatched to the Valley and Strong Street area, cops were soon summoned to Whalley Avenue by Emerson Street for the report of a person shot. There, police said, they found a woman inside her car suffering from a gunshot wound.

The woman told cops she knows the man who shot her and named him: Torrence Walker, 27, according to New Haven police spokesperson officer Christian Bruckhart.

The woman was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital for medical treatment and her injuries were determined to be non-life threatening, he said.

Police combed the area and soon found Walker, and a black Smith & Wesson Model pistol and ballistic evidence.

Walker was charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree breach of peace, a number of gun-related charges and interfering with police. Walker was held on $750,000 bond and appeared in court Wednesday morning, Bruckhart said.
