U.S. Air Force Veteran Howard C. Bakewell, of New Milford, Passed Away

The New Milford man was an avid golfer and an experienced horseman. He was very involved in the First Company Governor's Horse Guard.

NEW MILFORD, CT — Howard C Bakewell of New Milford, Connecticut passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at the age of 85, after an extended illness.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela Tierney, and her husband, Kevin; his son Geoffrey Bakewell, and his wife, Cheryl; and his grandchildren, Katelyn Bakewell, Patrick Tierney, Craig Bakewell and Sean Tierney. He is also survived by his friend and companion, Lorraine Estock.

Howard was born on June 17, 1931 in New London, Connecticut, the son of Edward and Edna (Drassel) Bakewell. He graduated with a business degree from Bryant College and was a sergeant in the United States Air Force. Howard worked as a sales manager for Acousticon Electronics in Waterbury, Connecticut and finished out his career as a salesperson at Shaker Auto Group in Watertown, Connecticut.

Howard was an avid golfer and an experienced horseman. He was very involved in the First Company Governor's Horse Guard, chartered in 1788 and part of the organized militia of the State of Connecticut, located in Avon, Connecticut. He was a Captain when he retired from the organization.A grave side service will be held at the end of April.
