Norwalk Primary Elections 2024: Results In Key Races

NORWALK, CT — Residents across the state hit the polls Tuesday to vote in primary elections.

Winners of Connecticut's Aug. 13 primary races will advance to become their party's banner bearer in the general election.

U.S. Senate

In Norwalk, registered Republicans voted for one of two candidates to challenge incumbent Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy for a seat in the U.S. Senate. Gerry Smith, the first selectman of Beacon Falls, is running against Manchester native, businessman and Navy veteran Matthew Corey.

According to unofficial results provided by the city's Registrar of Voters office, Corey received 303 votes and Smith received 196 votes.

U.S. Congress

Republicans also had to choose between physician Michael Goldstein of Greenwich, and Fairfield finance executive Bob MacGuffie. Both men are looking to challenge incumbent Democrat Rep. Jim Himes to represent Fairfield and Connecticut's 4th District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

According to unofficial results provided by the city's Registrar of Voters office, MacGuffie received 257 votes and Goldstein received 254 votes.

State Representative, 140th Assembly District

Norwalk residents who are registered Democrats could vote for one of the following candidates in the race for state representative of Connecticut's 140th House district: Carleton Giles or Travis Simms, both Norwalk residents.

According to unofficial results provided by the city's Registrar of Voters office, Simms received 267 votes and Giles received 214 votes.
