NORWALK, CT — Norwalk Public Schools hosted its third annual elementary school showcase Tuesday evening, inviting Norwalk families and their young children to explore their options and learn more about the district's magnet programs and neighborhood schools.

According to a news release provided by the school district, over 460 people attended the showcase at the newly built, state-of-the-art Cranbury Elementary School to speak with representatives from the district’s 13 elementary schools.

Community partners and NPS departments also joined the festivities to provide important information and resources that will help families see their children succeed in school, according to the district.

Each school organized a table that highlighted their educational theme or neighborhood culture. Students from Wolfpit Integrated Arts School performed selections from their 2023 musical production of "101 Dalmatians KIDS" and Jefferson Marine Science Elementary School showcased their partnership with the Maritime Aquarium, district officials said.

According to the district, Norwalk Public Schools offers six magnet schools: Concord Magnet School, Jefferson Marine Science Elementary School, Kendall College & Career Academy, Silvermine Dual Language Magnet School, Tracey Magnet School and Wolfpit Integrated Arts School. Brookside also offers a Montessori program for families in their school zone.

The elementary school choice lottery opened Tuesday evening. The lottery will close March 1, and the drawing will take place March 8. Kindergarten and new student registration for the 2024-25 school year opened Thursday, according to the district.
