Details And Timing On When To Expect Thunderstorms In Ridgefield Today

For the third straight day Connecticut is under a Hazardous Weather Outlook as there is a chance for severe thunderstorms, strong winds and heavy downpours today. Today’s weather threat actually offers the best chance for thunderstorms across the state.

The National Weather Service says for southern Connecticut, “There is a marginal risk for severe thunderstorms from this afternoon into tonight. The main threat is from damaging winds. There is also a chance for localized flash flooding from late this afternoon through tonight.”

Also for southern Connecticut an Air Quality Alert in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM EDT Thursday.“An Air Quality Action Day means that Ground Level Ozone within the region may approach or exceed unhealthy standards,” the weather service states.

• Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 87. West wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
• Thursday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 10pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10pm and 1am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 1am. Some of the storms could produce gusty winds and heavy rain. Cloudy, with a low around 64. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
