RIDGEFIELD, CT — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.

Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?

Alyssa is a very diligent student with a 4.4 GPA taking multiple high level honors classes. She works hard in school as well as in her extracurricular activities. Alyssa has a passion for music and is a member of the high school Symphonic Orchestra as well as the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra and was selected as a top violist into the Western CT Regional Orchestra. She also enjoys mentoring elementary school viola students. Alyssa is a member of the National Charity League and really loves volunteering locally. This year she has received the Gold level President’s Volunteer Service Award signed by the United States President for volunteering over 100 hours. Lastly, Alyssa has fun playing on the JV tennis team at her high school.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?

Alyssa is not only a hardworking student but she is also the most compassionate person I know. She spent over 100 hours this year volunteering at local organizations such as animal rescues, senior centers, Meals on Wheels and helping those with developmental disabilities.

Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future,Alyssa - 10th grade!
